How it relates

As learned in class, this relates to tradition. This tradition was kept up mainly between the time periods of 1800-1890 and then was continued again after World War II. This tradition of painting beehive panels relates to tradition by helping to create and conform to a sense of identity. When they were first created, this gave the rural beekeepers a sense of community and amusement to their daily lives. As stated in our book, Living Folklore, the idea of tradition is now changed and grown with folklorists. "For example, a story, the act of storytelling, and the ways that stories and storytelling come to be meaningful within a group all matter when we talk about tradition." This tradition has brought a large community together as people as young as 14 now start beekeeping. Also, for every 200 people, there is 1 beekeeper.
